Born in March 1946 and from Kildare Denis stayed home from school to farm in April 1961 due to family circumstances and is farming ever since. Denis operated a store to beef finishing system and built his first slatted shed in 1974 when he operated a calf to 14-month-old beef system until the market disappeared in the late 1970’s, early 1980’s. The farm was a beef finishing farm until 2005 when he decided to convert to Tillage and Forestry. Denis joined Macra Na Feirme 1965 where he held officer positions at branch and county level and was a member of National Council from 1970-72. He is a member of NFA – IFA since 1966 where he again held officer positions at branch and county level and was a member of national livestock committee for four years. Denis was also a member of the RDS Committee of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
