John operated a tillage and beef farm in Newhall Co. Kildare. Up until 1976 john was closely associated with the development of Premier meat packers in Sallins Co. Kildare. Following this he began to further develop his farming system. A progressive farmer he always sought to incorporate new technological advances adopting a total commitment to progress. Described by his peers as a trendsetter in the industry he was always willing to share his knowledge with others and frequently spoke at Irish Grassland Association meetings.
