Matthew Halpin is currently working as an Assistant Agricultural Inspector with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine, based in Agriculture House, Kildare Street, Dublin.
Prior to this, Matthew worked as a Beef Livestock Specialist with the Irish Farmers Journal. He worked in this role for two years (2018-2020), which he started immediately after completing a four year Agricultural Science degree in University College Dublin.
Outside of his employment, Matthew is suckler farming in partnership with his father Thomas in Kells, Co. Meath. The herd comprises 100, spring-calving, continental-cross suckler cows. All progeny is taken to beef aside from replacement heifers.
The Halpin family farm is well linked to the Irish Grassland Association having hosted the 2014 Student Conference Beef Farm Walk and the 2017 Beef Conference Farm Walk which followed a morning conference in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells.
