Professor Gorman was a Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture, UCD and lectured in Botany and Bacteriology. the Faculty of Agriculture was based at the Albert College in Glasnevin at that time. Michael was a Council Member of the IGA at its foundation in 1946.Michael Gorman (1890-1982) graduated from the Royal College of Science for Ireland (R.C.Sc.I.) with the A.R.C.Sc.I. award and by 1923, he was appointed to the R.C.Sc.I., as a lecturer in Agricultural Botany. He served time as Joint Honorary Secretary of the College of Science Association. On the transfer of the College to UCD in 1926, he transferred to UCD where he lectured in Agricultural Botany and Bacteriology. Michael Gorman was later elevated to the Professorship in these fields in the Faculty of Agriculture, UCD. The Faculty of Agriculture at that time was based at the Albert College (now DCU) in Glasnevin. Michael was a Council Member of the IGA at its foundation in 1946.
