From Dublin originally but now living in Cork, I am married to Trish and we have 2 girls (Ruth & Jane). Templetuohy in Tipperary and Ballymoe in Galway is where I get my farming backround. I enjoys, GAA, Squash, cycling and ICBF Tuesday night soccer!
I studied Ag.Science in UCD & then did a masters in Animal Breeding in Edinburgh University. I started work with ICBF in 2000, based in their Animal Evaluation Unit. As the Organisation has grown over the year’s my role has changed within the area of Genetic Evaluations, e.g. of some of the main areas include: Animal Events, AI Approvals, Active Bull Lists, Linear Scoring, Gene Ireland Progeny Testing, Weight Recording & Sheep Ireland. In 2006, ICBF set up the Herdplus service within ICBF. This is a cattle breeding info service which extracts data from the database for individual herds and sends the herdowner back out reports that allow them make better breeding & management decisions with. I have been & continue’s to be heavily involved in this area designing, testing and launching new Beef & Dairy Reports, as well as providing phone support to farmers and presenting at meetings.
