I graduated from CIT in 2005 with a Bachelor of science in agriculture degree. I manage the cattle enterprise on my family’s pig and beef farm at Ardfield Clonakilty, Co.Cork and run a herd of 60 simmental cows taking progeny to beef. An annual reseeding program and soil sampling are two of the most important practices that take place on the farm. I am the chairman of the clonakilty beef discussion group, a Nuffield Ireland scholar and former Vice President of Macra na Feirme. As part of his Nuffield scholarship I studied grass based suckler systems around the world. I am also a weekly contributor to the Irish farmer’s Journal.
